ISSP UL’s leading researcher among the organizers of 2022 E-MRS Fall Meeting symposium

Dr.phys. Anatoli Popov, leading researcher of ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Kinetics in Self-Organizing Systems, is one of the organizers of the symposium M devoted to the Defect-induced effects in nanomaterials. This symposium will take place within the scope of the Fall Meeting of 2022 European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) in Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) from September 19 to 22.

Following the success of five previous symposia, this one is dedicated to further exploring the basic properties and technology of nanomaterials using the controlled introduction of defects through the application of external loads, including ionizing and particle radiation.

Topics to be covered by the symposium:

  • Defects in graphene and other 2D materials
  • Swift heavy ion irradiation as the means to tailor nanomaterials
  • Effects of grain boundaries and interfaces on the diffusion and transport processes in nanomaterials
  • Electronic structure of defects in nanostructures
  • Creation, evolution and properties of radiation defects in nanosize materials and heterostructures; the role of interfaces, nonstoichiometry
  • Multiscale computer modeling of defect creation and transformation in nanomaterials
  • Novel technological processes of micro-, nano- and optoelectronics using defects and radiation effects

The Fall Meeting of E-MRS consists of parallel symposia with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations and a plenary session to provide an international forum for discussing recent advances in the field of materials science. The conference will be augmented by an exhibition of products and services of interest to the conference participants.

Founded in 1983, the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) now has more than 4,000 members from industry, government, academia and research laboratories, who meet regularly to debate recent technological developments of functional materials.
