Workshop and networking event "Next gen Organ-on-chips & Organoids"

As a part of CAMART2, ISSP UL Prototyping lab members participated in a short talk conference and networking event on Organ-on-Chip (OOC) technologies hosted by Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM) entitled: "NEXT GEN ORGAN-ON-CHIP & ORGANOIDS" on February 5-7 in Neuchatel,

Switzerland.

Main applications of organ-on-chip and organoids are disease modeling, drug testing and organ replacement. The combination of biomimicry (organ-on-chip systems) and self-assembly (organoids) technology is emerging as the next generation of tissue models. In this context, standardization, automation and/or parallelization are mandatory to enable their industrialization. These and other technical challenges and solutions are presented by the leading industry and research in the Next Generation Organ-on-Chip & Organoids workshop.

During this event, ISSP UL members had a chance to listen to presentations on advancements in the field from leading companies like Emulate, TissUse and Mimetas, alongside academic institutions such as CSEM, University of Tübingen and others. Furthermore, a comprehensive review of the current and past projects in the field was done by Roche, who were the sponsors of the event. Finally, post the talks ISSP UL members had a chance to build the network in the field during the networking session, which was showcasing the CSEM collaboration opportunities in the field.
