ISSP UL researcher Gints Kučinskis explores cutting-edge battery technologies at The Battery Show Europe 2024

Leading researcher and head of the Energy Materials Laboratory at ISSP UL, Gints Kucinskis, attended The Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart, Germany, from 18 to 20 June 2024. This premier event is known as the largest battery expo in Europe, showcasing the latest advancements in energy storage technologies, with a specific focus on Li-ion and Na-ion battery technology.

During his visit, Gints Kučinskis engaged with leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals, delving into the forefront of energy storage innovation. He explored potential future joint project applications with researchers from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Denis Kopljar and Maryam Nojabee. He also learned about the Austrian Institute of Technology’s (AIT) recent experiences with the EU’s Hop-on facility from Katja Fröhlich.

Moreover, he discussed the evolving landscape of battery education and their Battery MBA online courses with Battery Associates’ Barath Venkatesan. Gints Kučinskis also had insightful conversations with representatives from prominent battery materials suppliers such as Cabot, Trinseo, Synthomer, and others regarding recent trends, challenges, and business needs in the industry.

Additionally, the ISSP UL’s researcher interacted with EVE and HiNa, a prominent Asian battery manufacturer and the largest Na-ion battery manufacturer, to understand the latest trends in battery manufacturing and aging. Gints Kučinskis’ participation in The Battery Show Europe proved to be highly successful. It facilitated the acquisition of new knowledge and insights into the dynamic battery industry and served as a platform to expand and fortify his professional network, fostering collaborations and partnerships that can drive further advancements in energy storage technologies.
