ISSP UL young researcher receives the University of Latvia award for an excellent doctoral thesis

On 3 February, the University of Latvia (UL) congratulated its employees and students for their scientific achievements and contribution to the university’s growth at the annual general meeting of employees and the annual awards ceremony.

This year, in the category of the best doctoral thesis, a researcher from the ISSP UL’s EXAFS Spectroscopy Laboratory PhD Inga Pudža, was honored for her excellent doctoral thesis "Influence of local structure on the thermochromic properties of copper molybdate and its solid solutions". Earlier this year, Inga Pudža’s doctoral dissertation was recognized as the best by the Latvian Academy of Sciences – she received the best young physicist award.

This year, the winners received the UL Annual Award, which symbolized the UL Academic Center and was made of two materials - concrete, which is one of the materials of the modern infrastructure of the Academic Center, and an oak tree, which has been the symbol of the UL since its foundation.
