Representatives of the CAMART² communication and dissemination work package participated in the International Open Access Week events which took place from October 19 to 25 and this year’s theme was Open with Purpose – Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion. The Science Department of the University of Latvia (UL), the UL Library and the National Open Access Service (NAPD) organized annual Open Access Week 2020 activities in Latvia. The first of the events was a webinar “Brief Insight in research data management”.
The second of the events took place online on October 21 and was a webinar "Scholarly Publishing and Open Access". Participants of the seminar gained an insight into scientific publications and learn about them in the context of Open Access, including services for researchers related to publishing. The webinar answered the questions starting from the choice of the journal for publication, the choice of the repository and data bases for data storage as well as importance of open science approach.
The third webinar took place on October 30 and was devoted to “Scholarly Publishing Milestones". The participants could exchange experiences on the principles of quality assessment of magazines and open access publishing.
The knowledge gained at the Open Science Week is essential in choosing the journals for scientific publications for the ISSP UL researchers. The webinars also provided more detailed information of how the Open Access works as well as provided practical information on work with different databases for research data storage and publication dissemination.
