Young ISSP UL researcher gains valuable knowledge at IWEPNM’ 23 Winter School

Kevon Kadiwala, a 3rd year PhD student and engineer in the ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Thin Films, participated in the winter school of IWEPNM (International Winter School on Electronic Properties of Novel Materials)’ 23 organized by the groups of Janina Maultzsch (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany) and Stephanie Reich (Freie Universität Berlin, Germany) in cooperation with Andreas Hirsch (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany) and Christoph Stampfer (RWTH Aachen, Germany) at Kirchberg in Tirol, Austria between 18th  – 24th March 2023.

Kevon Kadiwala presented results from his work on core-shell nanowires of GaN-WS2 and GaN-MoS2 during the poster session of the school. The aim of participation in winter school was to learn about new frontiers of science and gain valuable information to be applied at the ISSP UL for future research. The IWEPNM also provided a unique opportunity to establish new collaborations.

During the school, a total of 25 hours of lectures and 25 hours of mini workshops were attended. The main theme of this school (novel two-dimensional materials) was closely related to Kevon Kadiwala’s main topic of PhD thesis, which was also beneficial for him to grow as a future researcher.
