On November 13, Ieva Lācenberga-Rocēna (Legal & Procurement Group) participated in the International Public Procurement Initiative (IPPI) hosted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade and the European Service for Foreign Policy Instrument in Brussels, Belgium.
Public procurement is a key negotiating objective and a major economic activity in most countries worldwide. Despite its importance, there was no systematic information available on the participation of foreign companies in public procurement contracts of key partners and the barriers these companies are facing while participating in government procurement tenders abroad.
The IPPI project’s ambitious goal was to fill in this gap and create the most comprehensive procurement dataset based on detailed, firm-level publicly available data.
