11th Solar Cup competition closing event was held at the Institute of Solid State Physics on Saturday, May 26, 2018. The event is organized for children from grades 5 to 12, in which they form school teams and create solar-powered model vehicles to compete and find out which is the fastest, strongest, lightest and most innovative model vehicle.
18 teams (2-3 participants in each) from different schools and youth interest centres from all around the country participated in the competition. The solar panels and engine kits were sent to the teams.
The ultimate winner of the Solar Cup 2018 was determined by a number of criteria – home works (vehicle sketches and video about the building of the model), performance at the competition, knowledge test – filling in questionnaire with 10 questions about green energy and also the overall criteria of the team – attire, team spirit, attitude towards others etc.
