Heads of the national metrology institutions of Scandinavia and the Baltic and the Latvian scientists discuss cooperation

To create a network of cooperation between national metrology centers and scientific institutions, the heads of the national metrology institutions of Scandinavia and the Baltic States gathered at Riga Technical University for a meeting to strengthen cooperation, plan the strategic development of the industry and establish closer contacts with researchers and industry representatives.

The metrologists also discussed cooperation with Latvian scientists, whose knowledge and competencies could be invaluable in the future. In the meeting, Riga Technical University was represented by the researchers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Transport and Aeronautics; Institute of Polymer Materials of the Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry; Institute of Industrial Electronics and Electrical Engineering of the Faculty of Electrical and Environmental Engineering, and Institute of Energy Systems and Environment of the Faculty of Electrical and Environmental Engineering; Laboratory of Building Materials of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Among the representatives of the Latvian scientific institutions were also the director of the ISSP UL, Andris Anspoks and the leading researcher and deputy director for science, Andris Šternbergs, and a representative from the Institute of Numerical Modeling.

The visit was organized by Euramet, a cooperation alliance of metrological organizations of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association, aiming to achieve greater efficiency by coordinating and sharing metrological activities and services.
