Visit of participants of the international "Nanomaterials: Applications & Properties (NAP-2024)" conference to ISSP UL

From September 8 to 13, the 14th IIEEE Conference, "Nanomaterials: Applications & Properties" (NAP), took place in Riga. This event gathered many scientists, engineers, and educators to discuss the latest advancements in the field.

The origins of this conference date back 14 years to Ukraine, and it has since evolved into the largest nanomaterials conference in Eastern Europe. This year’s edition emphasized nanoscale materials, highlighting interdisciplinary research that explores and leverages the unique physical and chemical properties of these materials for practical applications. Approximately 300 experts from over 40 countries shared their latest scientific findings during four parallel sessions over five days.

Among the conference speakers was the head and leading researcher of the ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Organic Materials, Dr. phys. Aivars Vembris. The topic of his presentation was “Polymer Photonic Platform for Integrated and Quantum Photonics”.

On September 11, around 50 conference participants visited the ISSP UL to tour the laboratories and engage with the institute’s scientists. The visit began with a welcome address from the director of the ISSP UL, Andris Anspoks, who presented an overview of the institute’s development and achievements. Following this, the guests enjoyed a presentation by Gatis Mozoļevskis and watched a video about the cleanrooms at ISSP UL, which are a crucial component of the scientific infrastructure.

The program continued with tours of several laboratories, including the Thin Film, Energy Materials, Optical Materials, and Spectroscopy labs. Throughout the visit, participants engaged in meaningful discussions with our scientists, discovering shared interests and research topics. This exchange fostered the establishment of new contacts, paving the way for future collaboration in the field of nanomaterials development.
